# Device Binding

> How to pair TicNote Pods with the TicNote app.

## Pair TicNote Pods

<Steps>
  <Step title="Download the App">
    Search **TicNote** in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), then install.

    * Requires iOS 13+ or Android 8+
    * Grant **microphone**, **Bluetooth**, and **notification** permissions when prompted
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Case and Enter Pairing Mode">
    Open the charging case lid. The earbuds automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode when taken out of the case for the first time (or after a reset). The case LED will flash white.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect to the TicNote App">
    Open the TicNote app and tap **"+ Add Device"** on the homepage. Follow the in-app guide to pair the **charging case** — the app will walk you through each step. Once the case is successfully connected, the app will show the device as linked to your account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pair Earbuds via Phone Bluetooth">
    After the charging case is paired in the app, go to your phone's **Settings → Bluetooth** and make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Look for **"TicNote Pods"** in the device list and tap it to connect the earbuds.

    <Tip>
      If TicNote Pods doesn't appear in the Bluetooth list, place the earbuds back in the case, close the lid for 5 seconds, then open it again to re-enter pairing mode.
    </Tip>

    <Note>
      The TicNote app connection (Step 3) links the charging case for recording and AI features. The Bluetooth pairing (Step 4) connects the earbuds for audio — music, calls, and playback. Both steps are needed for the full experience.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connected">
    The app shows **"Device Connected"**. Battery status for both the earbuds and charging case is now visible in the app.

    You're ready to record and listen!
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Wearing Guide

TicNote Pods use an open-ear hook design:

1. Hold the earbud with the speaker facing your ear canal
2. Hook the ear loop gently over the top of your ear
3. Adjust until comfortable — the bud should rest against (not inside) the ear canal

<Tip>
  Open-ear design means ambient sound remains audible. This is intentional — great for situational awareness during calls and meetings.

## Two Recording Modes

TicNote Pods automatically detects which mode to use based on whether the earbuds are in your ears or in the case.
